Spring Floral Surface Designs
This project all started because of my other passion, interior design. My husband and I wanted to redo our spare bedroom and I had a vision of floral artwork in gold frames in between delicate wainscoting. What started as a little passion project with my husband turned into a larger vision that I had to create.
I started with the 3 floral filled vases for our spare bedroom, then I created patterns and greeting cards from the flowers. I’m so in love with how these came out!

Process
I started sketching vases with florals, which was originally what I needed and wanted for our spare bedroom decor. After I sketch out my design I like to bring the sketch into Adobe Fresco where I start illustrating vectorized blocks of color and line work on my ipad.
Surface Pattern Creation & Design
The floral vases would be hung in gold frames on a green wall so my goal was to keep the background light and wanted pops of color like yellow, pink, and chestnut to match the room. After I vectorized all the shapes, I seamlessly shared my Adobe Fresco file on my ipad with Adobe Illustrator on my macbook. From there I adjust colors and add in textures to each vector shape. I was so in love with the three 8x10 pieces of art, so I thought I'd make a whole collection of surface designs including greetings & patterns.
From Pattern to Product
After creating all of my patterns I mocked up a few gift items & fabrics in Adobe Photoshop to see how this collection would play out. I'm in love and am looking forward to adding these patterns to my Spoonflower shop!
