Burt’s Bees Baby Farm Collection

Passion Project Scope: Surface Designs

The Challenge

As a new mom, I was truly inspired by my baby’s clothing, blankets, and various textiles. Each piece seemed to tell a story, and I couldn’t help but dream about having my art featured on children’s textiles, particularly for a beloved brand like Burt's Bees Baby. This aspiration sparked an idea: why not combine my daughter’s adoration for farm animals with my passion for creating beautiful children's textiles?

I decided to embark on a passion project, channeling my creativity into designing playful and charming patterns that reflect the warmth and innocence of childhood. This project not only allowed me to express my artistic vision but also celebrates the joyful moments of motherhood and the delightful world of farm animals that my daughter loves so much.

The Goal

Create a collection of surface pattern designs that were gender neutral, playful yet sophisticated and felt like they’d be imprinted on pajamas or onesies from Burts Bees Baby.

The Solution

I began by sketching a variety of farm icons and animals, including cows, pigs, and my personal favorite—a tractor. This was a refreshing change from my usual style, making the process a fun and creative escape. After illustrating a collection of farm-themed icons in Adobe Fresco on my iPad, I transferred my vector illustrations to Adobe Illustrator, where I added a watercolor texture and started creating repeat patterns. I was so enamored with the little details in each icon that I decided to feature some of them alongside charming farm-related sentiments, perfect for graphics on shirts.

The Results

After developing all of my patterns, I took the next step by mock-up a selection of children’s clothing items and accessories in Adobe Photoshop. The collection features four distinct farm patterns, each paired with a standout hero piece that includes a charming sentiment.

Bringing these designs to life in a mock-up format allowed me to visualize how they would look on real products, adding an extra layer of excitement to the project. Each pattern captures the whimsical spirit of farm life, making them perfect for little ones. Creating designs for a brand like Burt's Bees Baby has always been a dream of mine, as I admire their commitment to quality and sustainability. This project not only reflects my passion for children’s textiles but also aligns perfectly with the values I cherish in a brand.
